Jamie’s company grew quickly during COVID
At the start of the pandemic, “Jamie” was running a 3-person operation with about $500k in revenue. She wanted to grow but hadn’t put a plan in place to reach her goal of $5M in revenue yet.
Then, the world shut down and her company blew up (in a good way).
20 new-hires later…
High-demand and a remote workforce made Jamie’s company grow quickly and become a booming business. She cracked her $5M ceiling and was absolutely crushing it when regulations and requirements hit a breaking point.
Jamie needed HR structure, support and a lot of compliance remediation.
To make matters a bit more complicated
The most recent bid she’d sent out was a State program so Jamie needed labor compliance & prevailing wage help and payroll support.
How We Helped:
Jamie and her team needed to get compliant and quickly. We did our HR Audit and found gaps in compliance, and opportunity for improvement in process and procedure. On top of her people challenges, Jamie was using outdated HR software which was making her life (and the lives of her managers and employees) a lot harder.
Our first job was to create a roadmap and project plan. Once we established priorities and a timeline we were ready to get started. For Jamie, we began with creating an employee handbook and having the whole team sign it. We then scheduled required harassment trainings and connected her with a trusted benefits broker and TPA to get her benefits set up. The next step was to set up a modern HRIS (human capital management system).
Jamie was skirting a class-action wage and hour lawsuit for misclassification and improper payroll structures. The fact was, Jamie didn’t know what Jamie didn’t know.
